electrs: Server panics upon Electrum client connection

Following https://github.com/romanz/electrs/issues/9#issuecomment-404020135, the server panics with:

thread 'reader' panicked at 'failed to read a request: \
 Custom { kind: InvalidData, error: StringError("stream did not contain valid UTF-8") }', \
  libcore/result.rs:945:5
