vscode: error creating registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes.ts\OpenWithProgids
Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes
- VS Code Version: 1.71.2
- OS Version: Windows 10
Steps to Reproduce:
When I open a project after some time I get message box with this text:
error creating registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes.ts\OpenWithProgids
I think running it as admin helps sometimes, but if I mark it to always run it as admin, now windows UAC asks me “if I want to allow this app to make changes” each time, which is also not desirable.

I did that but had to select “Users” instead of my username, for some reasons my username wasn’t visible in that tab anymore. We’ll see if error reappears again. Hope by checking “Full Control” didn’t compromise security 😃
Again? I basically did it 9 days ago (see comment above). Plus then I think it will take some time before error starts to show up. This time I was playing with user snippets in preferences, and it showed afterwards. But maybe it was a coincidence. Anyway I will probably be able to do it tomorrow.
No I didn’t. That “Account Unknown” actually has something like ID next to it which I removed just in case from image. Like
Account Unknown(1-2SD-FF-GGSSS....)
. I think it is fine.
