core: Home assistant does not restart - seems to be a problem with pychromecast?

The problem

Home assistant core hangs on restart, according to the log it’s stuck on something to do with pychromecast. Happy to provide logs but I do not know exactly what would be needed.

The issues does not occur if I do “ha ho reboot” and reboot the whole Operating System.

Environment

Raspbery pi 4, 32 bit install of Home assistant Operating system. Been happening since late .104 releases, perhaps the first time I noticed was when trying to install 0.105 and it didn’t restart properly

  • Home Assistant release with the issue: 0.105
  • Last working Home Assistant release (if known): 0.103 didn’t have this 0.104 may have done.
  • Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.): Hass.os/hassio 3.9, it also happened on 3.8 and 3.7 I believe
  • Integration causing this issue: maybe pychromecast, but I don’t have a chromecast integration and discovery is off so I don’t really understand why pychromecast does anything at all.
  • Link to integration documentation on our website: ??

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml

I don’t know of any

Traceback/Error logs

Additional information

Happy to provide logs for this, it does not happen every time I restart, but most times!

I have looked at all the logs you provided, though I am still uncertain if your problems are related to the cast integration. Have you tried to do all the things you mentioned with the cast integration disabled/entities removed?

I agree, it may not be due to cast. The issue is intermittent (though more likely to occur when I’m trying to update core) so turning off any given integration doesn’t really help track down the issue.

I think next time there’s an update I’ll put logging default level to debug and try updating to see if it reveals anything?
