android: Unable to connect to Home Assistant
Home Assistant Android version: 2002.2 Android version: 9 and 11 Phone model: OnePlus, Pixel-3, Teclast Tablet and others Home Assistant version: 2021.12.8 Last working Home Assistant release (if known): Don’t know. Auto-update updated it sometime in the last couple of days, I assume. Description of problem: I am experiencing the following (which just started two days ago and has persisted):
- When launched, within a few seconds, the following message pops up:
Unable to connect to Home Assistant
Wait, Refresh External URL, Settings
- The page continues to load without apparent problems.
- If I click WAIT, or anywhere on the page, the message goes away but reappears several seconds later.
- All pages continue to work as expected, but no matter what lovelace page is showing, the message reappears. I have checked my SSL certs and restarted the server to no avail. Although I see other issues regarding connections, I did not see any with similar symptoms to this issue.
- I have force stopped the app and cleared the cache.
The identical problem is occurring on 8 different android devices.
Access to HA from Chrome directly has no problems.
I am running WebView 98.0.4758.101
Thanks for any advice/help…
P.S. I was running the latest Beta version, but downgraded to non-beta in the hope it would fix the problem.

I should mention…
I connect to the mqtt server over web sockets “wws:” and the the mosquitto server was failing to connect when attempting to open a web socket.
This would be a HA frontend issue/question as the connection status is reported via the external bus to the app
https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/frontend/external-bus/#connection-status-update-connection-status
@craigmdennis in your case the HA frontend told the app to show the pop-up because it reported it was disconnected so that is working as expected
we need to look at your logs to see whats causing your issue, it may be unrelated.
