sway: Rendering freezes regularily since 1.9 upgrade

Sway Version: 1.9 Debug Log: This issue takes quite a while to happen, possibly multiple hours. I don’t think I can collect full logs and make sure they contain no personal information. Configuration File: https://github.com/jplatte/dotfiles/blob/8cde1eba3b23ba19ab97e822df2b88a2ae52fa78/.config/sway/config Description:

After upgrading from Sway 1.8.1 to 1.9, rendering regularily freezes after a while (multiple times in a workday). I have downgraded for now, and the issue has disappeared again.

The freeze starts as the screen blacking out for a second or two, then both my monitors (DP via Thunderbolt) come back with the previous image, some continuous visual glitching on the previously-focused window and a working cursor. I can still interact with windows and the compositor overall (e.g. switch to my music workspace, press Ctrl+Q and my music stops playing), but the only visual indication that something is still working is the mouse cursor moving (and maybe changing appearance, uncertain right now).

When this happens, sway spams the following message on stdout or stderr¹ multiple times every render (~12ms):

[ERROR] [wlr] [GLES2] GL_CONTEXT_LOST in context lost

¹ not sure, using systemd-cat to direct some or all of what it prints to systemd logs
