pyglet: in a multi-window pyglet application, key handling queues and/or discards upon window exit/hide/show on X11
Description
In a multi-window pyglet application, when a key press event callback calls user code closing a pyglet window, the key release event for that key will queue until the same key is pressed again.
How to Reproduce
- Run the code provided below.
- Press and release a regular key (e.g. “R”). (No special pause before releasing the key is necessary to reproduce).
- The output will show you that no release event fired.
- Press the same key again.
- A
releaseevent will fire instead of apressevent.

@matanster pyglet itself doesn’t have that information. I’m not sure if it’s possible to query from xlib or not, but we’re not currently checking. XWayland probably does it’s best to appear as a “normal” X server, so it may be difficult.
If it’s set, you can query the XDG session type. IE:
Switching to reuse the windows side-steps the matter completely insofar. Thanks for all your comments and thank you for pyglet.
I couldn’t find any obvious places on the pyglet side where we might be missing events.

I did some debug prints, and the key up/down events (2, 3) do not appear to be coming through.
It may be X-related since I’m pretty sure I’m running via Wayland’s X compatibility. I’m not sure how to check at the moment.
