oref0: wlan0 service stops with more than one wifi network in wpa-supplicant file
Two people now have had their rigs suddenly stop working with the same error.
Rig just stops connecting to wifi networks it had previously had no problems with. No changes in the rig being done at the time of the error happening. Nothing to obviously identify why the error started.
The error message that comes up when ifup wlan0 is this…
wpa_supplicant: /sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start
run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant exited with return code 1
Failed to bring up wlan0.
I did find this on google that is same issue. Person identified it was using Jubilinux with Edison as well. https://communities.intel.com/thread/110485
The only solution so far has been to comment out all but one wifi network (in wpa-supplicant), run ifup wlan0 and then reboot the rig. Then the person can go back in with edit-wifi and remove the hashtags for the other networks.
The first person did this fix and the rig worked for a week or so before the error reappeared. The second person just got the error tonight, 14 days after the first person reported the error to me.

Seeing a number of examples where
update_config=1ends up being added to line 1 somehow. Deleting that fixes it. Unclear if that particular thing is related to the previous issues, because I don’t see it in @Kdisimone’s earliest examples of this thread, but I’ve seen this be the issue in the last ~5 I’ve seen in the past two weeks. @tim2000s also confirmed today his rigs don’t have that, so help welcome from someone figuring out what command or file or editing process is adding this to the file and potentially causing many of these wifi-related issues. If we figure out what is adding it, we can either write a fix to stop it from adding, or run a check and delete it if it pops up.
