I am using with EntityFramework6.Npgsql I have two projects in both I have installed the same package
EntityFramework6.Npgsql 3.1.1.0 Npgsql 3.1.8.0
I am getting this exception : Exception while reading from stream

Your exception clearly indicates a timeout. This could be caused by a query that is too long or some sort of network issue. You can try disabling timeouts altogether to see what happens by setting
Command Timeout=0in your connection string (the default is 30).If the issue always happens on the same query, chances are you’re query is simply taking too long. You can post the code of the specific query triggering this.
If the error is a query timeout, shouldn’t the driver/server return an exception indicating such, rather than a socket timeout error? I think this is what most other databases I’ve used do.
If you use pgbouncer, this was solved for us when pgbouncer pool_mode configuration was changed from ‘transaction’ to ‘session’.
Please open a new issue with some code that shows the problem.
I don’t understand… your stacktrace above shows no InvalidCastException. Also, are you absolutely sure you’re seeing an InvalidCastException containing timeout exception? That would be very strange.
Please double-check what’s going on and post a full stack trace which shows what’s happening. Also, like I wrote above, please say whether this happens randomly or always on the same query, and post the query if it’s always the same one.
