We will no longer ship the opus codec in the next release. So the change to mp3 is a must do 😃 Our sound designer confirmed he will provide sounds in mp3 next week.

Current builds only supports the following non-proprietary codecs

  • .opus
  • .webm (encoded with opus codec, the default encoding with vorbis codec is not supported)
  • .flac

We can get support for proprietary codecs, but we would have to go through some CELA loop before it can be shipped. It has been a while so I don’t know the exact steps. I can ask around MS-Teams runtime folks who might be familiar with shipping proprietary codecs.

mp3 doesn’t work for electron.
