PowerToys: Windows Explorer preview pane not displaying Markdown file

Environment

Windows build number: 10.0.19592.1001
PowerToys version: 0.16.0
PowerToy module for which you are reporting the bug (if applicable): File Explorer

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enable preview pane
  2. Click on a Markdown file

Expected behavior

The preview pane displays the Markdown file.

Actual behavior

The preview pane does not display the Markdown file, instead displays text saying “No preview available.”

Did a quick search. This seems to be saved in “ShowPreviewHandlers” in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced. This could be added to the Bug Report Tool.

I guess we need some change here to add a mention that the File Explorer > Options > View > “Show preview handlers in preview pane” option needs to be checked:

@crutkas Why not try to automatically change this setting’s registry key to 1 while preview feature enabled? I have tested it and it looks effective immediately.
