cava: Gradient not working on tmux

I thought it was the one supported but I keep getting Your terminal can not change color definitions, please use one of the predefined colors. when I set gradient = 1

rxvt-unicode (urxvt) v9.21 - released: 2014-12-31

Am I missing something?

Odd – I just found this because I have the same problem. I’m using kitty as my terminal and cava works fine. In tmux (in kitty, or in xterm, or others), cava gives me this error. I am running tmux 2.7, and no other applications I’ve found seem to have this problem.

EDIT: My mistake! I had accidentally left an old tmux process running when trying to fix this, and so hadn’t overridden my default $TERM. Now it’s working fine.

For reference, I ended up with these lines in my ~/.tmux.conf:

set -g default-terminal "xterm-kitty"
set-option -ga terminal-overrides ",xterm-kitty:Tc"
