Supervisor 2023.10.0 is now on stable channel which includes https://github.com/home-assistant/supervisor/pull/4588. Supervisor will first updated to this latest (fixed) version before downloading Home Assistant Core.
I just checked with a slower Internet connection, the
Watchdog miss API response from Home Assistantno longer appear. I consider this closed. If you still experience such issues despite having the latest version the Supervisor, please open a new issue in this repository along with all the details filled out.

Update2: 21:25 WORKING!!! After ~4 hour looping…
Home Assistant Are you ready to awaken your home, reclaim your privacy and join a worldwide community of tinkerers? Let’s get started by creating a user account…
Same issue. New 10.5 installation (and first time user so this is frustrating). Running as a VM on ESXi 6.5, with 8GB RAM and 50GB storage.
This has been looping for about 45min now. I haven’t done any restarts yet.
I have gigabit fiber. 1.8 GB should take no time at all. I suppose I’ll just wait until the morning.
UPDATE: Like others said, waiting seemed to do the trick. It took nearly 2hrs, but the prep screen eventually moved to account creation. I did restart the VM once during all that, but it still took another hour for it to progress.
“If the download completes within 2 minutes, then non of this errors are visible. So this requires a somewhat slower Internet connection to show up.” - how about it appears on a 1gbps connection (no, not talking about connection to the switch, but internet connection)…
RPI 3 model B+; sd card…
tl;dr: The errors are a bug in Supervisor, but download should continue despite the errors. Usually you just have to be patient while Home Assistant OS downloads the latest version of Home Assistant Core (which is around 1.8GB at the time of writing).
The details:
When first starting Home Assistant OS, the Supervisor downloads the latest version of Home Assistant Core. During that time, a small replacement for Core called landing page is running. It seems that the Supervisor does API checks for this small version of Core as well, leading to this messages:
At first, a warning appears, 2 minutes later the first error appears. Both messages should not appear while the landing page is running, this is a bug in Supervisor.
If the download completes within 2 minutes, then non of this errors are visible. So this requires a somewhat slower Internet connection to show up.
I think I solved the mystery and that repeating the loop depends on the memory support as model and/or size In my case (RPi3) I had these results:
loop ~ 4 hours with USB stick 64Gb
loop ~ 1 hour with USB stick 32Gb
loop ~ 6 minutes with SD card 16Gb (practically from the start in 13 minutes the login page appeared)
It remains for you to test variants…
I just waited. Took about 2 hours and then the create account portal was available.
Same issue, First ever install on pi 4.
I just waited…and waited… and it sorted itself out.
make a cup of tea and chill.
I’m having the same issue. Fresh install on a Pi 3b+, fresh 64GB A2 class sdcard. At the end of the installation I see this:
…and it just keeps going. How can I get this installed?
EDIT: After 15 minutes of restarting that service, it finally came up. I just left it alone, for anyone else having this issue just let it complete and restart 3-4 times.
