core: Cannot connect to host core-zwave-js:3000

The problem

I am getting this error in the Z-Wave JS integration: Retrying setup: Failed to connect: Cannot connect to host core-zwave-js:3000 ssl:default [Connect call failed ('172.30.33.0', 3000)] I’ve had this twice now. Here’s what I know:

  • There appears to be no obvious cause that triggered this.
  • Reloading the integration does not fix it.
  • Restarting HA does not fix it.
  • Unplugging the Z-Wave device and plugging it back in does not fix it.
  • Restarting the Raspberry Pi on which I am running HA fixes it.

While I can’t explain why the setup broke, it does make sense.

It’s just coincidence. Based on the timing of the add-ons, one will start first and lock the controller. The other will fail. Or, if the lock is bypassed, you will just see random failures as both communicate with the controller. It just so happens in the past the “correct” add-on started first for you, but this time around the other add-on took control.

Ok, got it. Settings -> Add-ons -> ZWave JS -> Logs tab. I was not aware it existed, thanks!
