expo: EAS build - Fastlane build failed
Summary
I need to use a library not supported by expo, react-native-compressor. So I decided to use a dev client. When I run eas build --profile development --platform ios
I get the following error:

Looks like fastlane ran into a build/archive error with your project
It's hard to tell what's causing the error, so we wrote some guides on how
to troubleshoot build and signing issues: https://docs.fastlane.tools/codesigning/getting-started/
Before submitting an issue on GitHub, please follow the guide above and make
sure your project is set up correctly.
fastlane uses xcodebuild commands to generate your binary, you can see the
the full commands printed out in yellow in the above log.
Make sure to inspect the output above, as usually you'll find more error information there
[stderr] [!] Error building the application - see the log above
Error: Fastlane build failed with unknown error. Please refer to the "Run fastlane" and "Xcode Logs" phases.
Managed or bare workflow? If you have made manual changes inside of the ios/
or android/
directories in your project, the answer is bare!

but how do you know which module causes what?
Marcus, you sure noticed that it worked after uninstalling, but how did you conclude your actions towards removing that particular library, much like @AjazKSyed is asking?
It is
expo-image-picker
for me.my issue was because of react-native-unimodules
yarn remove react-native-unimodules
, fixed itReally sorry about it, it’s my library actually, I’ll try to fix it asap now.
It worked as expected when I uninstalled it 😃

I got this error after migrating to a new machine with Expo 49 and had to ‘brew install fastlane’ to resolve it
yarn remove react-native-unimodules
was my issue.I didn’t realize that the project I was working on start prior to SDK 43 because we migrated from 44 to 45 without much thought. You might have to double check the migration guides in these medium articles depending on your SDK version to make sure you don’t have any lingering dependencies that should have been removed/renamed.
agreed with @parkerproject, how did you do your root cause analysis? try and error with all libs in a project doesn’t sound like a solution
How did you know that package was the problem?
Most importantly !
If it was expo-image-picker, or expo-linear-gradient or any other library, deleting it will be the only solution when your App kind of rely on having it?
Please help !
Removing react-native-unimodules also worked for me.
Solved, it was just this module that was throwing an error
fiction-expo-restart": "^1.1.2
Removed it and it worked
