App: Navigating to Chat Details screen with wrong email or chat id, crashes the app.

Action Performed:

Break down in numbered steps

  1. Open Any 1:1 chat on newDot.

  2. Go to the User Details page by clicking on the Chat title.

  3. Copy the URL and open a new tab and paste it. Change the user email part to ‘rajat’. Url should look like https://staging.new.expensify.com/details?login=rajat.

  4. Open any 1:Many chat on newDot.

  5. Got to Chat details.

  6. Modify the report id in the URL to any value. Url would be https://staging.new.expensify.com/r/rajat/participants.

Expected Result:

Describe what you think should’ve happened

Redirect back to Home page or last Accessed Chat.

Actual Result:

Describe what actually happened App Crash. Specially, there is just a blank browser window.

Workaround:

Can the user still use Expensify without this being fixed? Have you informed them of the workaround?

Ok thanks. Gonna close this for now. If there is some case in the future where we are sending links to profiles and a user may or may not be able to access it then we can revisit a solution. It just seems a little too much of an edge case to fix right now.
