In my case, I have solved it doing as below:

android {
    compileSdkVersion 26
    buildToolsVersion '26.0.2'
....
}

Previously it was like:

android {
    compileSdkVersion 23
    buildToolsVersion '26.0.2'
....
}

@datadreamer1 android:resource="@mipmap/ic_notif" is in android/app/src/res/mipmap-*, for each path, you need to create a image called ic_notif.

This resolved the error

try this .it helped me app/build.gradle

android { compileSdkVersion 25 buildToolsVersion “25.0.0”

defaultConfig {

@djpo that helped me. For anyone having this issue go to all of four android/app/src/main/res/mipmap-(hdpi/mdpi/xhdpi/xxhdpi) , make a copy of ic_launcher and rename it to ic_notif.

help

Or you can get these png files from the example project:

EDITED the link: https://github.com/evollu/react-native-fcm/tree/master/Examples/simple-fcm-client/android/app/src/main/res

I applied @nicholasess’s solution above, though the path was android/app/src/main/res/mipmap-* (his path didn’t include main).

@wmonecke I simply copied the existing ic_launcher.png (in each mipmap-* dir), with the name ic_notif.png, so that there are two identical image files (with different filenames) in each mipmap dir. I have yet to get the notification feature to work, but this particular build error is gone for me.

Updating compileSdkVersion from 27 to 28 fixed it for me

I fixed this by replacing target=android-27 to target=android-28 In my project.properties file

Try installing android p sdk and change compileSdkVersion value to 28
