We believe we have identified the cause of the “GetReferenceNearestTargetFrameworkTask” issue and we’ve created a beta of the C# extension that includes the fix. Please install the beta VSIX (https://github.com/OmniSharp/omnisharp-vscode/releases/download/v1.16.1-beta1/csharp-1.16.1-beta1.vsix) and let us know if that resolves the problem

It worked for me

I uninstalled C# for VScode extension
Installed https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net471-developer-pack-offline-installer Because in Assembly-CSharp.csproj file appears <TargetFrameworkVersion>v4.7.1 and I was tired of changing it in every new project I opened in VScode.
Re-installed C# for VScode extension
Close and re-open VScode

C# for Visual Studio Code v 1.22.1 VSCode v 1.46.1

This project targets .NET version that requires reference assemblies that do not ship with OmniSharp out of the box (e.g. .NET Framework). The most common solution is to make sure Mono is installed on your machine (https://mono-project.com/download/) and that OmniSharp is started with that Mono installation (e.g. “omnisharp.useGlobalMono”:“always” in C# Extension for VS Code).

Reopening this issue. I keep getting [fail]: OmniSharp.MSBuild.ProjectManager Attempted to update project that is not loaded: d:\Damian\Hakier\Csharp\Szachy\SzachyMulti\SzachyMulti.csproj. I tried to change version to 1.15.2 however it doesn’t solve the problem.

I had this problem recently, I thought I had everything installed even mono, but I didn’t have mono-complete installed just a few packages it seems, it solved my problem. People could try that and see if it solves thier problems.
