speedtest.net: Sometimes incorrect and inconsistent speed
I depend on this module in speed-test and I’ve gotten feedback from multiple users that this module sometimes return incorrect result compared to speedtest.net.

Reopening this to encourage someone to peek at it.
Can anyone break down exactly what development work is needed to get the results from this tool consistent with www.speedtest.net? Once we define how to address the issue, we may be able to divide and conquer.

Interesting. testmy.net does seem to give very different results from speedtest.net. But your CLI and testmy.net are very similar. Reading on how speedtest.net tosses out some percentage of slowest (30%) and some percentage of fastest (10%) feels very dishonest. The only reason I could imagine that speedtest.net would attempt to tell users their internet connection is much faster than it really is, would be to benefit the reputation of the ISP’s. This is doubly frustrating when it’s painfully clear that ISP’s (at least mine) is definitely highjacking for things like youtube/netflix which feels like a 15Mbps connection.
